Ann Jamison, LMFT

Within each of us beats a courageous heart that longs for connection and growth. Therapy is a space to reconnect with our own innate resilience.

Welcome! I'm Ann (she/her/hers), a Madison-based therapist with a passion for helping clients achieve their therapy goals. Research shows us that the greatest predictor of successful therapy is the fit between client and clinician. So, pull up a chair, and let me tell you a little about myself!

I am an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist who welcomes clients engaged in traditional as well as non-traditional relationship structures, including polyamory, non-monogamy, and power-exchange dynamics. I work collaboratively with clients, tailoring my approach to each person's goals, strengths and challenges. Therapy should not be a one-size fits all practice.

My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, relationship issues, childhood trauma and PTSD, perinatal mental health (postpartum depression, loss, termination, birth trauma, etc.), stress and burnout, ADHD/neurodiversity, phase of life challenges, grief and loss, and gender/sexual identity exploration.

I use a variety of therapy approaches including IFS (internal family systems), narrative therapy, and systems therapy. I'm is also trained in Brainspotting, a trauma-informed, brain-based therapy that addresses mental blocks through focused visual processing. But no matter what approach we use, our work will be grounded in self-compassion. This means that I consistently work with clients to teach and model approaching ourselves with kindness rather than shame and harsh self-critique. I genuinely believe that it is through kindness that we can see ourselves honestly and fully, and that is what makes change possible.

You might see me knitting around the office or one of Madison's coffee shops. Right now I'm working on mastering socks, so my brow might be furrowed because making those heels is tricky! I also love spending time with my dog and son, and hiking Wisconsin's state parks. My goal is to visit each one, and so far I'm about half of the way there.

Clients can meet with me at Affirm's offices in Madison, WI or via telehealth. I offer appointments Tuesday - Friday. She is in-network with Dean, Anthem BlueCross/BlueShield, The Alliance, WPS, and Wisconsin Medicaid. For those not using insurance, I accept out-of-pocket payments. Please email me for my current rate.
